When RBK Construction Ltd. took on the challenge of refurbishing the 550 sq.m flat roof at K Leisure in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, they knew the stakes were high. The leisure centre needed a solution that was fast, reliable, and wouldn’t disrupt daily operations. The existing EPDM rubber membrane had failed at the seams, and with tight budget constraints and a complex roof layout, the team needed a system that could perform under pressure.
Having previously used TriRoof FLEX on a smaller project, RBK Construction was already familiar with its strengths. FLEX’s ability to overlay the existing membrane was a game-changer—eliminating the need for tear-offs, reducing waste, and cutting down on labour and material costs. Its built-in flexibility made it ideal for navigating around solar panels and large air intake vents, while its low-odour formulation ensured no disruption to the leisure centre’s ventilation systems.

While the team had some initial concerns about using FLEX on a project of this scale, TriRoof’s training programme gave them the confidence they needed. Craig conducted a site inspection, helped refine the materials list, and was on-site for the first day of installation—offering guidance and reassurance to ensure everything got off to a smooth start.
Despite weather delays and a technically challenging layout, the installation was completed in just 3–4 weeks by a three-person crew. FLEX’s overlay capability eliminated the need for tear-offs, significantly reducing labour, cost, and disruption. Midway through the project, the team ran low on materials sooner than expected. With limited storage space and the next delivery still days away, Tricel’s local depot in Baldonnell stepped in. A quick call to Darryl at Tricel resulted in a fast, flexible solution—RBK was able to collect additional supplies locally and keep the project moving without delay. The seamless coordination and adaptability were key to delivering a successful TriRoof FLEX roof refurbishment.
