- Leading Composite Reinforcements Supplier
Reinforcements
Our woven fabrics and reinforcements work seamlessly alongside resins to produce composite materials that, as a result, effectively resist water, heat, and physical or chemical damage. Moreover, we offer fabrics in a wide range of quantities, sizes, and weights, spanning glass, carbon, and natural or synthetic fibres. In addition, thanks to our strong global network and direct access to high-quality raw materials from the world’s leading composite brands, we are able to consistently deliver the right technical solutions to meet your business needs.
Our Range of Reinforcements
Glass Reinforcements
Glass remains one of the most common reinforcement materials used in composites, and consequently, it is available in multiple formats, including chopped strand mat, woven rovings, and woven glass cloth. In addition, we supply E-glass, which, in particular, is especially compatible with epoxy resins. Furthermore, this makes it an ideal choice for applications requiring high strength and durability.
Carbon Reinforcements
We source our carbon, aramid, Kevlar, and hybrid fabrics from the highest quality manufacturers, therefore providing a diverse range of weights, patterns, and sizes. In addition, our in-house technical team rigorously batch-tests every product to ensure full traceability.
As a result, these fabrics are widely used in the automotive, marine, moulding, and transport industries, thanks to their lightweight properties and superior strength.
Fibre Reinforcements
Natural and synthetic fibres deliver high performance with lower weight and, consequently, often outperform their glass counterparts. To learn more, you can explore natural composites in our blog.
Typically, manufacturers base these components on polypropylene resin. In fact, natural fibres are often preferred over glass and carbon materials due to their advantages in price, weight reduction, and recyclability.
Reinforcement Products We Supply
Emulsion Bound Mat
Our emulsion-bound mat, for instance, works effectively with both polyester and vinylester resins. Furthermore, it breaks down quickly, allowing easy lamination by brush or roller.
Overall, this material is best suited for mould making and laminating. However, it is not compatible with epoxy resins, because it cannot break the binder.
Powder Bound Mat
Our powder-bound mat uses a powder-based binder, which makes it ideal for moulding or laminating with epoxy resins.
Additionally, it withstands high temperatures and remains compatible with polyester and vinylester resins.
As a result, this mat provides a reliable, all-round solution for applications involving different types of resins.
Chopped Strand
Chopped strand consists of glass strand filaments cut into small pieces (typically 3mm, 4.5mm, and 6mm).
For example, you can sprinkle chopped strand into tight corners or complex shapes where a void may appear behind a gelcoat.
Alternatively, you can mix chopped strand with resin and filler to create a paste, which can then be used for filling voids in laminates and moulds.
Roving
Rovings consist of continuous glass filaments wound onto a reel, which makes them ready for direct application through filament winding, pultrusion, sheet moulding compounds, or spray gun methods.
Moreover, they offer high strand integrity, excellent wet-out, good dispersion, and consistent spread..
Woven Roving
Woven rovings are bi-directional fabrics created by interweaving direct rovings to deliver higher performance reinforcement.
As a result, they increase the strength and stiffness of laminates and are typically placed between layers of fibreglass matting.
Furthermore, woven rovings are widely used in HLU applications and can also support robotic manufacturing processes.
In addition, they offer fast wet-out for high productivity, excellent mould adaptation, and increased, uniform laminate strength.
Continuous Filament Mat
Continuous filament mat consists of randomly oriented continuous E-glass filaments held together with a binder.
As a result, it offers excellent dimensional stability and wet-out capabilities, which makes it compatible with unsaturated polyester, epoxy, phenolic, and polyurethane resins.
Moreover, continuous filament mat is suitable for use in resin transfer moulding, vacuum processes, and plaster moulding.
Surface Tissue
Surface tissue is a very fine matting used to create a smooth finish on completed laminates.
Specifically, it primarily covers the coarse texture that chopped strand mat may leave behind.
In addition, our surface tissue dissolves when used with polyester and vinylester resins, although it can also work with epoxy resin when necessary.
Carbon Fibre / Kevlar
Our carbon and Kevlar reinforcements deliver high performance, especially for high-impact applications across the marine, automotive, building, and moulding industries.
